Let the island set the line.
Map the usable island surface, work zones, seating, and sight lines first. Choose a fixture arrangement that relates to that usable length while keeping the room visually and physically open.
Choose one rhythm
A linear fixture creates one continuous line; repeated pendants create intervals. Use the architecture and cabinetry to decide which rhythm belongs in the room.
Protect views and movement
Check the view across the island, cabinet doors, tall users, and the path around stools before fixing the final height.
Verify performance
Confirm the exact fixture's electrical, dimming, output, mounting, and installation requirements. A spatially suitable shape is not proof of technical suitability.
